What happens if I want more than the allocated three sessions for SelfRefer Physio?2023-06-29T12:29:14+10:00

Unfortunately, there are no extensions for SelfRefer Physio at this time.
You can continue treatment with your Provider through your own Private Health rebate or at your own expense.

What information will the QPS have access to?2022-09-30T14:28:03+10:00

The QPS SelfRefer Manager and SelfRefer Administration Officer will have limited access to rediCASE.

To facilitate payment of SelfRefer sessions, the following information will be included on electronic invoices

  • De-identified client number (e.g. QPS1002)
  • Number of sessions attended
  • SelfRefer Provider name

No other or identifiable information will be contained on the invoices.

Separate to the invoicing, the SelfRefer Manager will have access to a list of the names and QPS identification numbers of SelfRefer recipients.

Access to this information is necessary for two purposes:

  1. To conduct financial and fraud auditing in order to maintain the integrity of the program; and
  2. To facilitate cost recuperation when a member has an accepted WorkCover claim pertaining

At no stage will the SelfRefer Manager or Administration Officer have information pertaining to the reasons for attending a Provider, session notes, or any other personal information.

Finally, to monitor and evaluate this program and as part of regular reporting to the Executive Leadership Team, high-level data will be provided to the SelfRefer Manager directly by rediCASE.

This data will include specific monthly reporting figures such as:

  • number of total SelfRefer clients
  • percentage of total SelfRefer clients by gender
  • percentage of total SelfRefer clients who are police officers or staff members
  • broad overview of reasons SelfRefer clients are presenting to the Providers
  • percentage of appointment types (i.e. in person or telehealth)

It is important to note that this will be completely de-identified and any individual data will not be provided to the SelfRefer Manager or the QPS. Rather, the SelfRefer Manager will be provided with a broad overview of the above data monthly as per reporting requirements.

What information can the SelfRefer Providers access?2022-09-30T14:26:41+10:00

Each SelfRefer Provider has unique user permissions, where they can only access their client’s information in the system. They will only enter information into the rediCASE system to:

  1. collect information about the SelfRefer client
  2. manage the SelfRefer client program and progress
  3. invoice the QPS for payment using deidentified information

Providers will only have access to their own clients’ information.

What type of information will the SelfRefer Provider collect?2022-09-30T14:27:07+10:00

Once you make contact with one of the SelfRefer Providers, you will be asked to provide standard information as a new client. This information will be recorded and stored within rediCASE with strict user protocols, only available to the Provider you are working with.

The basic client information that the Provider will collect is as follows:

  • Your name
  • Your gender
  • Your date of birth
  • Your presenting issue (e.g., Workplace Stress)
  • If you are meeting with the Provider in person or via telehealth
  • Proof of current employment within the QPS via your payroll number

note: you will need to have your valid QPS ID when you attend your appointment (either via telehealth or in-person).

Can I change providers?2022-09-30T14:29:13+10:00

Absolutely, we know that a strong therapeutic relationship is paramount to best possible outcomes. Within your six sessions, you can certainly change providers if you wish.

But please note, this does not reset your six sessions in a Financial Year.

What is the process for changing providers?2022-09-30T14:30:01+10:00

There are a few options for changing providers should you choose. The easiest way is to simply head to the “Find your Provider” page and choose another Provider who you think will meet your needs.

When you attend your first appointment with the new Provider, the rediCASE system will link your details in the system (i.e. cross-reference your rego number to your de-identified number the QPS receives).

Another option, if you so choose, is to contact the SelfRefer Manager for additional support in identifying a new Provider that will best meet your needs. You can do so via email: [email protected].
Alternatively, if you feel comfortable enough, you can ask your current Provider to identify a suitable alternative within the SelfRefer network of providers and they may be able to help you identify an appropriate alternative provider.

Again, it’s important to note that changing providers does not reset your session count in a Financial Year.

What happens if my Provider thinks I need more than the allocated six sessions for SelfRefer Psych?2023-06-29T12:27:05+10:00

There are options if your Provider deems that you would benefit from more than six sessions.

  • You should discuss additional sessions with your Provider. The Provider can contact the SelfRefer Manager to request an extension of sessions in a deidentified manner. Extensions can not be requested by yourself.
  • You can obtain a Mental Health Treatment Plan from your GP to continue your treatment with your Provider outside of the QPS-funded SelfRefer Program.
  • You can continue your sessions with your provider through your own Private Health rebate or at your own expense.
What happens if I already see a provider I like, but they aren’t on the provider list?2022-09-30T14:31:21+10:00

Unfortunately, the QPS will only fund six sessions with an approved SelfRefer Provider.

However, any mental health provider can apply here to become a SelfRefer Provider and undertake the vetting process and partner with the QPS.

If I have a claim with WorkCover, what information can the QPS access through SelfRefer?2022-09-30T14:31:51+10:00

The QPS via the SelfRefer Manager, will only ever seek to access the below information with your consent from the rediCASE system as part of the WorkCover process:

  • your full name (attached to the generated client ID number)
  • number of sessions attended
  • name of the Provider you’ve accessed
  • invoice for each session

We absolutely will not be accessing any further information. All data including the information discussed in your sessions will not be accessed during this process.

Can my partner and I access couples counselling through SelfRefer?2022-09-30T14:32:14+10:00

Unfortunately, the SelfRefer Program is not funded for couples counselling or supporting the loved ones of our members at this time.
Whilst any member of the QPS can access support for relationships difficulties or support, this does not extend to a loved one (external to the QPS) attending this session.

Should you partner or a loved one require support, we highly encourage them to utilise one of our other services, including: Chaplains, 1800-ASSIST or externally, Fortem Australia’s clinical support services. Further information regarding support options available to your loved ones can be found on the QPS Wellbeing website here.
